The Singer's Studio
occupies a room that
gives directly onto the
garden, with a big
window that opens onto
a colorful xeric version of a
winding English border.
The desk, adjacent to
sunny south-facing
French doors, visits the
garden with every glance
up from work. It sends
an arm out to embrace
the couch with drawers,
desktop and overhead
light shelf. Whimsically
placed orange drawer
pulls and a livid green
desktop spark the otherwise restrained palette.
The art over the couch
was a gift from David
Hockney.
