Excavation of the old adobe walls revealed a former carriage door that had been blocked in. The discovery made it possible to demonstrate to historic preservation authorities that our desired French door is, in fact, a restoration. Eventually a pair of barn doors will be installed outside the French doors, like over-sized shutters, to further the authenticity of the work.
